So as of January 1 a whole bunch of previously ineligible people will be covered under my state's version of Medicaid. As some of you know I work in a healthcare-related field and the services we provide will become much more widely available as a result of health care reform. I just thought you all should know that the county bureaucracy that administers and oversees linkage to these services JUST YESTERDAY woke up and realized ohhhhh shit their contracted providers will need to offer some extra appointments to accommodate the increased flow of people. YESTERDAY they called up and started telling us um haha, funny story but you need to up your capacity to see new people by, um let's see now, 33 percent starting Thursday (And PS our program is already operating at full capacity.)
I am telling you, this ground floor view of the implementation process is absolutely cray.
