For...reasons, it looks like I'm going to be in the northeast later this week (Providence, to be exact). Since I'm not averse to going out of my way for a good cause, and since I don't get up that way very often, I put it to you—if you had only one day to poke around somewhere in the vicinity (according to Google Maps, I'll be an hour from Boston, will pass by New York, etc.), what would you do? Drive up to Boston to get lost in her mazelike streets? Stop in New Haven to eat at the place that claims to be the birthplace of the hamburger? Drive through New York in hopes of witnessing street crime so I can get my salt-of-the-earth Midwestern relatives to remind me that they done told me to steer clear of that whole place when I tell them about it?
