I had to dig out my daughter's birth certificate yesterday and I found a few keepsakes I'd tucked away in some folder somewhere. The backstory is when she was pestering me and wouldn't put a lid on it I used to tell her to "put it in writing" which is to say make a written record of her complaint she could submit for further consideration.

For whatever reason she totally bought into this ploy, so she would go back into her room and laboriously write out whatever it was that was bothering her to show me. Genius parenting secret since inevitably by the time she wrote whatever it was down it had usually stopped bothering her. I really wish I'd kept more of these, there were some hilarious ones about her little brother that were collected and are now lost to the mists of time, but at least I have this one. I'm guessing she was probably in about second grade at the time.
