The Clock is on TCM tonight. If you haven't seen this movie, it's incredibly romantic and existential in the most powerful kind of way.
Judy Garland plays an office worker who meets and falls in love with a serviceman in the 48 hours before he's about to ship off to war. I don't want to give away too much about it but it has some lovely set pieces, and the shadow of his departure lends such an incredible poignancy and sweetness to their encounter. It's also a classic New York movie, one of those where the city itself is an essential character. It's like the American counterpart to Brief Encounter (which OMG if you haven't seen that one I can't even with you).
