I've been wondering how Crosstalk and Groupthink got their names. I remember hearing Salome/Lysergic Asset tell about how Crosstalk was created at commenter request, and for a while it was her and Uncle_Billy_Slumming just goofing around in there before it really took off. (And it helped that there used to be a main page link.) But she never said where the name came from.
Who came up with it I wonder. In the 12-step world (from which I believe the name is drawn) crosstalk is not a good thing, so the word has kind of a negative valence of unsolicited feedback and advice. And groupthink is not a particularly flattering (albeit apt) appellation either.
Yet another teensy little jab at the commentariat, in my opinion.
