This is the weirdest job I've had in a whileS

In November I was hired by a major telecoms company to run their QA network as well as organize a bunch of mission critical server moves between data centers. I was to coordinate with the owners of these devices. Those owners all said they would get back to me. They haven't. For about two months.

I understand that at some point these servers are going to be a big deal, and then I'm going to be busy as all hell. Assuming my contract doesn't completely expire first. Which it does, in a month.

To wit, I am literally being paid to show up here, sit at my desk, and await further instructions. Instructions that never come. Sure, I've fixed a few glitches here and there, but I have done about three hours of actual work since I was hired.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, hooray, free money and a great name on my resume. On the other...there's only such many posts on Gawker and Jezebel in a day I can comment on

I'm going to go have a cigarette.
