So someone on FB mentioned the pretty bad spelling and grammar in the newspaper one sees these days, and suggested that maybe this is why kids are such terrible writers (it's an English major thing—trust me, it's all we ever talk about for some reason ((although, to be honest, I don't care all that much))). This, of course, led to a discussion of all the other things kids do to make them bad at writing, like texting.* This led to one of my friend's friends saying, and I quote:

Our writings will soon appear as hygroglyphics [...]

I'll just let that one sink in.

*-And no, texting doesn't make you bad at writing. If you write a term paper in the same way you write a text, you demonstrate an inability to switch registers, but that's your fault, not texting's.
