It looks like the writers/editors here don’t expect to be here much longer. I’m not a business person, so I don’t really get the point of buying a blog with a distinct personality and readership only to fire all the people who give it its uniqueness.

Not that I have much love for this current iteration of Gawker. Even my favorite writers haven’t given me much this year.

But it does suck that these long-time “friends” are probably going to lose their jobs. Gawker used to be a lot of fun, but it seems like things haven’t been fun there for several years now. Maybe it’s time to scrap it all and start over.

It would be nice for the new owners to give the Kinja reader-run blogs a chance to live on, though. They are an un-realized and un-exploited asset.
