ICN's tales of employment excitement after the jump.

So I went to a conference last week. Nothing terribly exciting, but it was enjoyable for me. One day I went to lunch with some friends, as well as a mutual friend. Said mutual friend works at a place I had applied to not long ago. The search ended up getting suspended, which isn't all that unheard of in academia; I figured it was because of a lack of funding, which is the usual culprit.

While at lunch, one of my friends brought up the search, and mutual friend replies, "We had to suspend it. Our first couple of candidates turned us down, and as for the rest of the candidates...meh."

I have no particular quarrel with being described as "Meh" (heck, I'd agree), but one usually doesn't get to hear it so clearly and efficiently stated.
