Anybody have any thoughts or comments on the Active Now feature?
If you don’t know what it is, it’s a news feed, accessed through the Dashboard, and displays emerging stories that are gathering steam and starting to get ‘hot’ across the Kinja Network. It’s based on stories that are currently getting lots of comments, not page views like the “trending on Kinja” sidebar.
I’m actually enjoying reading stories I would normally miss because I don’t visit many of the main Gawker Media sites. I was surprised to discover that the feature includes the sub blogs. Wasn’t expecting to see the never ending posts from Opposite Lock and Group Think, but I’m warming to them.
Every time I see a story from Clash Talk pop up, it makes me wonder how many additional eyes are viewing this little corner of Kinja. Not sure how I feel about that, but the good news is, they quickly drop off the feed because the number count on the comments aren’t great enough to keep them active.
