In a much anticipated announcement Sunday afternoon, Hillary Rodham Clinton announced that she will become president in 2017.

"I'm ready to be the champion of everyday people." the president-in-waiting said in a video posted on her newly-launched website.

With no challengers worth noting in either party, Secretary Clinton ultimately decided to ascend to the presidency following the conclusion of Barack Obama's term. Clinton staff will be moving into the White House offices beginning in the summer of next year.

President-Elect Clinton's announcement had been expected for years, following her defeat in the 2008 Democratic primaries to President Obama.
