Considering all of the country likes to concern troll Chicago violence (and not just the right - Gawker has been as big of an offender as Faux News), I am shocked this hasn't been given national attention:
We had a gruesome sexual assault case last month in a working-class neighborhood that is relatively quiet. Turns out the guy had been released from similar charges twice by our justice system.
It takes a lot to get judges voted off the bench in Chicago. Each election, the local bar association details its problem judges, and they still get voted in. While judges aren't the only issue to blame here, we have a dysfunctional justice system that rewards prosecutors for only going after slam dunk cases. Hopefully, this case brings some attention to this problem.
