So I finished this over the weekend and was, I admit it, a bit baffled. Wha? I thought to myself after reading the final chapter. So I looked at the book's wiki and turns out it was designed as a series of interlocking riddles and according to Murakami you've got to read it a couple times to fully get it (one hopes) and according to the book's fans you can only really appreciate it if you've read several other of his books beforehand. Why did no one tell me this before?
Still pretty pleased about the talking cats though.
