I bought something online the other evening from a place I shop at regularly. While checking out, I didn't notice that the shipping address was at my old address, and completed the checkout process. I thought that 1. I had shopped there since I had moved, and 2. I had changed my address everywhere it needed to be changed. So on my shopping high, I went about my business. A few hours later, I check my email and get the order confirmation and notice that my order is being shipped to my old address - 2 hours away. Customer service number is of course closed, so I send off an email explaining the situation. I figure there's not a whole lot to worry about since the item isn't even going to be in stock until the end of the month, so there's plenty of time to get my address straightened out.

The next morning (yesterday) I call CS and explain, and they tell me that there's nothing that can be done as the item is shipped straight from the manufacturer. The company will try but won't guarantee that my address will be changed (bullshit). Since that is ridiculous I tell them to just cancel the order. They do, but say it can take up to 48 hours for the cancellation to process. Again, the item is not supposed to be available until the end of August, so I'm not worried.

Cut to now, where I just got an email from the company saying "Hey surprise! The item you ordered that wasn't supposed to be available for another 3 weeks is now in transit! We have records that you tried to cancel this order, but sucks to be you!" So that set off another round of emails, explaining that I'm not at that address, someone else is. I'm 2 hours away and have no plans to go back, especially on the day of delivery. That I realize that initially *I* made the mistake, but once I realized it I did my best to correct it. Their response? "Well, it's going to be delivered on (this day). Hang around and intercept the package and drop it off at your nearest UPS dropoff. We'll reimburse you the shipping."

So people at my old address. Hope you enjoy what I ordered for my new house.
