The facts are the facts. Hillary Clinton won. Bernie Sanders lost. 22 to 21.

People can talk about how it’s amazing that he got close, considering where he came from. And it is. But he still lost.

When you get into the details, the scale of the loss becomes clear. Everything worked for Bernie. He got the youth vote out. He outspent her. It was his third best state by polling. The demographics of white liberals made this a heartland Vermont. And he still lost.

Hillary weathered a late surge from her opponent. She won. She was outspent, had an enthusiasm deficit and the demographics favored her opponent. She still won.

If the best Bernie Sanders can manage in a state that should be his, period, is a ‘virtual tie’ that’s actually a slight loss, then where outside of his backyard can he win?
