My grandpa just called me. He never calls anyone and half the time I think he and my grandma forget I exist. My first thought was that one of them died, and then I realized that they probably wouldn't even call me to let me know that. But he called me to thank me for sending him a record I found of his from ancestry.com. My grandma already emailed just to say that she couldn't see it (really snippy too) but my grandpa called to tell me that he could see it and that he printed it out and that it meant so much to him to have some record of his time spent in the war put down on paper. He was fascinated by the whole concept of ancestry.com "You found more of my relations on there? HOW?" And he wanted to know what made me think of looking for him to begin with...

I couldn't tell him I was actually looking for my uncle (his son) who claims to be a Navy SEAL AND a Green Beret AND a Russian spy AND a sniper/sharpshooter - despite wearing super thick glasses.

So my intentions might not have started out to be the purest, but they turned out well.
