I know I keep fixating on this but I’m still so irritated/disappointed/confused by the lack of range in the coverage since Gawker shifted its focus to politics. Looking through my history, below is just a quick sampling of political stories I either read or skimmed this morning from other news sources.

Now, mind you, these are just national political stories and the tip of the iceberg of coverage at that.

Out of curiosity, I scrolled through Gawker to see what I could find. I went all the way back to Friday and with one exception every single story had to do with the presidential election. Most were about Trump, a smattering were about Clinton and Cruz. I think I saw one on Kasich. Other than the Rob Ford coverage, which they were later than other sources getting out, they had no international coverage whatsoever.

This is the exception that I found and it’s really just a re-write of a Bloomberg story about a local, though concerning, Arizona issue.

I don’t get it. Is this what they consider political coverage? Are these the only stories they think readers want? Are they really just phoning it in? I don’t know why I expected more, expected better, when the announcment was made, but I did.
